Topic: HOW TO BE LED OF THE SPIRIT.
Text: Rom 8:14.
People make decisions based on 3 things:
(1) Deductions from their emotions
(2) Intellect
(3) Spirit.
However, God still considers you a spiritual child if you are
controlled by your intellect or emotions. Children are led by emotions
and intellect but mature Sons are led by the Spirit (Rom. 8:14); until
you learn how to be led of the spirit, there are many things you won’t
have access to. (Gal 4:1 – 2)
Spiritual discernment is a top priority for anyone who really wants to
go far in life. So how can we be led by the spirit? There are 10 ways
God speaks to his children. I will list them in order of priority;
(1) The word of God is the most important guide (Ps. 12:6)
(2) The inward witness – which is an inward signal, a hunch, you can
call it a green/go or red/stop light prompting in your spirit.
(3) The small still voice of your spirit – also called the conscience (Rom 9:1)
(4) The voice of the Holy Spirit – this is usually very authoritative (Acts 13:2)
(5) Open vision – you can see into the spirit realm while your senses are fully active (Dan 8:18)
(6) Closed vision – your senses are suspended and you’re not aware of
your environment. It also called a trance. (Dan 8:2 -14; Acts 10:10)
(7) Spiritual vision – You see with the eyes of your spirit, mostly it appears like a quick flash
(8) Visions of the Night – dreams (Dan 2:19)
(9) Word of Wisdom – this is a gift of the spirit where you or someone
else is able to have insight into the future. (1 Cor. 12:8)
(10) Circumstances – this is the weakest form and Gods last resort. When
He has tried to get your attention and it is not working he might allow
circumstances. This is very sensitive because Satan also uses
circumstances to speak, life itself throws up circumstances; except you
are extremely sensitive, and you might not be able to discern who is
behind the events/circumstances happening.
The question most people may likely ask is, “Can you pray and ask God
to show you a vision?” In the new testament, No! No! No! Why? God said
He would lead you by the Spirit, He didn’t promise you visions. This is
left to God’s discretion.
However, you can pray and ask God to guide you or give you divine
guidance. In response, He will ALWAYS guide you through the word and the
inward witness and He might add one more means of guidance but as He
chooses. But as a standard, He will always lead you first to His word
and then your spirit man.
